: Something that has bothered me through all the rereadings of the books, and I still haven't figured it out yet. Maybe I keep missing something or am thinking too hard about it, but now that I've just finished the book again without an answer, I'm ready for some help. Just before reaching the Sharamoudi, Jondalar and Ayla come accross a small clearing near the river. They originally plan to make camp there, but Wolf growls at the area and Ayla feels uncomfortable staying there. However I have no idea why and Jean never makes it clear (to me at least). So anybody out there with an idea, cause I'm lost! :) : My original guess was that it was Ayla's original clearing, where her family was from, but it seemed to be too far away from the penninsula she met the Clan at...
