: I need to write a paper comparing two works of fiction (books or movies or one of each) about a minority group. One work must be written (book) or directed (movie) by a member of the minority and the other by a non-member. I would like to compare Bastard out of Carolina (the book) to a different work based upon the geographical cl issue (aka poor, southern white trash) but I can't think of a contemporary work on the same topic written by a non-member. I don't want to read bad writing. So if anyone has any suggestions please please let me know. : I was thinking, if nothing better comes along, of comparing the book with the movie, because I doubt the director came from a southern white poor background and I think there is a lot of room for comparison but I'm not sure... comments... : rachel
