Actually, Abigail Williams was only 11 years old and one of the first afflicted girls in Salem Village-she was the niece of Samuel Parris-the Reverend at the time the witchcraft accusations broke out and all during the trials. Arthur Miller's play "The Crucible" is not historically accurate-as a playwright he took liberties (like-he raised Abigail's age and had her and John Procter have an affair when that did not actually happen). The Crucible uses the Salem witch trials as a historical basis but it is not to be taken as fact-also it was written in the time of McCarthy and reflects that :-). ~Tatiana
** the girl underneath me is wrong because Abigail was not "11" and John Proctor was not "75" becuase not only was Elizabeth Procter in her late 30's early 40's, they had a few small children and old grandparent like people don't go and have kids. **
