: : : hey! please tell me something about the role of
: : : women in the puritan society.
: : : Thanks! answer as soon as possible.
ha.. found this site by accident looking for information for an english thingy. anyway, here is some information for you.
it was thought that women couldn't survive without men. also, their bodies were weaker and this more susceptible to being inhabited by the devil. a puritan woman's status in society relied upon her husband's. the only place women held any independence was in the church, and even there they were limited. it was impossible for a puritan woman to survive captivity without compromising her marital fidelity.. ha. they were thought to be mentally inferior and morally weak.. men thought that since woman had commited the original sin (eve sinning in the garden of eden) then all women were evil.
the women's main role was to cook, clean, have children and care for them, and make clothing. there were very few s that they were trusted with, such as processing meat and dairy products, weaving, and garden.
that's all the information i had. sorry. :)
